ILERET MISSION CENTER

A Ministry of Cities of Refuge Ministries. Beyond the Border is a faith-based mission center under Cities of Refuge Ministries, serving the Dasanach community of Ileret, a remote and underserved region along Lake Turkana near the Ethiopia border. We exist to bring lasting transformation through prayer, discipleship, community empowerment, and sustainable development. Ileret faces extreme isolation, water scarcity, food insecurity, limited education, and deep social vulnerability. In response, we pursue a long-term Gospel presence that addresses both spiritual and practical needs. Our mission is built on: prayer and spiritual engagement, discipleship of children and youth, strengthening local leadership and partnerships, and community-owned and culturally rooted solutions. The work in Ileret is led on the ground by our resident missioner, Mary Karanja, whose faithful presence continues to build trust, disciple children and youth, and serve the community daily. Through Cities of Refuge Ministries, Beyond the Border is working toward a permanent Mission and Learning Center—a hub for spiritual formation, education, skills training, and sustainable livelihoods—bringing hope, dignity, and Kingdom impact to the edges.
