STATEMENT OF FAITH
CORMS Chapel upholds the statement of faith clearly articulated in the church constitution as highlighted below:
- The Bible is the divinely inspired word of God, authoritative and the only infallible rule of faith and doctrine.
- There is only one true God, the Creator of everything visible and invisible, who eternally exists in three persons: God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
- The deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, His divine conception by the Holy Spirit, the virgin birth, His sinless life, redemptive death, bodily resurrection, and His present exaltation at the right hand of God the Father. We believe in His priestly role as intercessor for those who come to God through Him, and His imminent personal return to judge the living and the dead.
- God created man in His own image and likeness. In his natural state, man is fallen, but through believing in Christ Jesus, he is redeemed and restored to God, thus receiving eternal life.
- The Church is the body of Christ, comprising all believers who are commissioned to be witnesses of Christ and to make disciples of all nations.
- God the Holy Spirit indwells the regenerate person, teaches His people all things, and convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. The Spirit guides believers into all truth and empowers them to fulfill the Great Commission recorded in Matthew 28:19-20.
- Holy Communion, also referred to as the Lord's Table, is a command from Christ and should be celebrated by all born-again believers in Christ Jesus in remembrance of Him. We believe in water baptism by immersion at the age of accountability upon the confession that Jesus is Lord and Savior of their soul.
- There will be a resurrection of the body to eternal life for all believers in Christ Jesus, and eternal punishment for unbelievers, i.e., eternal damnation.
OUR PHILOSOPHY OF MINISTRY
CORMS ministry is centered on soul winning and discipleship thereby creating an army of Christians who live for God. Specifically,
we are about:
- The Priesthood of Believers: Personal relationship with God (1Pet 2:5-9).This is empowering Christians in regard to their walk with God. God is light; in him there is no darkness at all (1John 1:5). The Bible clearly says that God has bestowed spiritual gifts on all his children. The purpose of these gifts is “....to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature.” (Eph 4:11-13). CORMS chapel is therefore a place where every believer is equipped to use his/her spiritual gift in the service of the Kingdom, leading to unity and maturity.
- The Ambassadorship: Our relationship with unbelievers (2 Cor 5: 17-20).As a church God has given us the ministry of reconciliation since Christ came to seek and save that which was lost (Luke 19:10). We use our energy and strength in reaching out to the unsaved. We believe that just as Jesus’ main task was to be an agent of reconciliation between God and a lost humanity, our main task is to bring the lost people to God.
- As believers, we are the aroma of Christ to the perishing. We thus need to live our Christian lives as a model to the lost around us, and provide opportunities for lost people to encounter God’s love through us.
- The Ministry: Our relationship with fellow believers (1Cor 12:7, Rom 12:1-8). We obey Heb. 10:24-25 where we are exhorted to “consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds....” We stimulate each other to live in the energy of the spirit. We believe that churches should be led by men and women with leadership gifts. We believe that God blesses each local church with the spiritual gifts it needs to carry out the ministry that He has called it to execute. When people serve from a position of Spiritual gifting and strength, then God blessed their ministry. They are also able to lead more competently as they then have the credibility and anointing needed to lead. We thus encourage each member to find their place of gifting and to serve God and His church faithfully in that area.
OUR JOURNEY TO DATE
CORMS CHAPEL is a Missionary Church whose precise God-ordained purpose is to go out into the cities and turn people’s hearts to their Lord and Savior. On March 20th, 2007, the ministry’s vision was shared to a team of 24 people by the visionary leader, Rev. Daniel N. Muraya at his residence, Nairobi Survey from which Spirit-filled monthly meetings were later held at Trinity Fellowship in Green Garden Estate on July 8th, 2007 with 21 partners in attendance followed closely by another one on August 12th, 2007. Thereafter, the divine purpose was shared to a larger group and vibrant weekly prayers and Bible Study fellowships were successively held at Pacific Hotel and later at Abbey Hotel, a location that still hosted our physical Wednesday fellowships up to 2022.
Steady growth was exhibited as life- transforming messages grounded on hope and genuine Christian relationships culminated to the very first Sunday service on January 4th,2009 at Utalii Hotel then at Sir Yusuf Ali Sports Club till July 7th, 2013, the day in which the ministry moved to Kahawa West, Nairobi. Driven by a higher sense of purpose, CORMS CHAPEL defied all odds and made a significant step towards opening the current sanctuary at Ruiru on May 5th, 2019 to ensure attainment of the Godly mandate. The ministry has also conducted impactful missionary initiatives to unreached communities’ in Arid and Semi-Arid Lands. The Church’s exceptional progress in reaching out to lost souls from diverse backgrounds and cultures and bringing souls to a living hope found in Christ Jesus was greatly shaped by the vision and endeavours of the founders, supported by resilient disciples in various capacities over the years. Notable successes include establishing the CORMS Ruiru Sanctuary, a crucial hub for blessing and serving our great Capital City and beyond.
In 2019, spirit-led weekly mission outreach programs within the Ruiru Community culminated in a joint mission with Kenyatta University Mission Group bringing over 300 souls to Christ. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, which brought the world to a standstill, the church spread the gospel to more souls via Truth FM, social media platforms, and remote mission work initiatives. Over the years, the church has gained great attraction by establishing essential arms to ensure strategic alignment within diverse departments towards the great commission.
The arms include; the Prayer Harvest International which trains and equips spiritual warfare warriors to awaken and assault with great power of prayer the enemy’s strongholds and establish Christian Cities of Refuge among nations. As a means to enhance evangelization, the Outreach Arm plays a crucial role in compelling prodigal sons back to their father, this is heavily hinged on the parable of the prodigal son as well as Christ’s earthly purpose hence the need to focus on global discipleship through strategic and spirit-led missionary activities. The Daniel Institute of Christian Leadership aims to build and enhance disciples’ spiritual and intellectual capacity for seamless execution of God’s purpose.
All Times Sacco enable the mebers in the body of Christ to understand importance of saving and growing there financial means . The Board of Management plays an oversight role to ensure that the institute and vital departments use the Bible as the prime reference as leaders will study, practice, and,teach the truth.
